Another Person's Trash is Another Person's Treasure
By julianne, February 12, 2010, Shopping Tips
Believe it or not, thrift stores like the Salvation Army and Goodwill are one of my favorite places to shop. There many treasures can be found at thrift stores. Most of the items there are things not wanted or used by their owners. So instead of discarding them with their weekly neighborhood trash schedule, the items are donated to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.
I’ve found some pretty amazing things at thrift stores. My most prized finds include a vintage Dooney and Burke purse and Salvatorre Ferragamo shoes. With labels like Dooney and Burke and Salvatorre Ferragamo, you might think they’d be expensive, but I got those shoes for less than $20!
Aside from clothes, you can find household items and wall decorations at thrift stores. The Salvation Army I frequently go to devotes half of its store to house wares. They have full living room and dining room sets, and a couple of dressers available for sale. You can get these for cheap and reupholster or paint them so they look brand new.
Thrift stores are almost always stocked with toys and outdoor items. You can find old golf clubs, baseball gloves, roller skates, Easy Bake ovens, and Barbies on the store shelves. If you’re wondering what to do with an old bicycle that’s collecting dust in your garage you can donate it to a thrift store so someone else can get good use out of them.
Here are some thrift stores in the Houston area worth checking out. Take a Saturday off to go thrifting and see what treasures you can find.
What’s your favorite thrift store?

I stumbled onto your blog and read a few post. I like your style of writing.
Very Interesting Blog! Thank You For Thi Information!
You have a great looking site. I have read a lot of these posts and they have come in use. I have visited many blogs and it seems like most of the information sounds generic or is copied from other site and I can’t ever get useful information or information that is even worth the time that I spend reading it. I myself run several blogs and forums. Most of my blogs pertain to animals,to be more specific, dogs. I have checked out your site and absolutely love it. I would like for you to visit some of my blogs. I know that you probably don’t want me posting all my links here and I do not want you to feel like I am spamming you so therefore I will not leave a bunch of links. However, if it is okay with you, I would like to post a link to one of my most successful sites. The main component of my site is vbulletin forums. I also have a blog on this site along with a function that allow members to enter their dog’s pedigrees. The pedigrees show up in a four generation site where every dog name is a link to that dog’s four generation pedigree. I would really like for you to check out my site and let me know your thoughts on it and ideas or suggestions for improvement. I am especially interested inyour input on my blog because this seems to be your specialty. My site URL is http://www.PetPedigreeDatabase.com/
