A couple of ways to stay energy efficient while being money-spending efficient as well…

One thing I truly miss from my mom’s house is a ceiling fan. My new apartment does not that the capability for that, but how I wish it did. Not only does the ceiling fan help circulate the air in the room but it also avoids one from having to turn up the temperature.

The next tip is to dry your clothes on a drying rack or clothesline. For those us that may not have much of a yard to do this, I personally use my shower curtain pole to hang several articles of clothing.

If you are like me, I usually keep my blinds open as long as the sun is out. I absolutely love sunlight but realize that having the light shine into my living room makes me more likely to want to make it cooler is my apartment. I guess there is good and bad to sunlight because by letting it in it eliminates the amount of electricity you use to light your household but too much sunlight causes heat. One may choose their battle! To get the best of both worlds and help minimize heat absorption, can install reflective window tint on windows that get a lot of sun.

Lastly, in order to conserve air conditioning and avoid leaks try to invest in weatherstrips. Depending on how old your windows and doors are you might just be able to buy these strips and use them or for those older windows and doors, one might have to replace them but know that you will be saving in electricity spending annually.
