Free is More Valuable Than You Think

When moving into my apartment, I obviously was in need of furniture so my roommate and I had saved up for the sectional we wanted but along the furniture gathering stage I was offered free bar stools. As soon as I heard the word FREE I was in, so I accepted. I picked them up just last week and saw that they really did not match my color scheme but I was not letting them go. I went ahead and look up some Do It Yourself (DIY) articles on transforming these stools into fitting perfectly in my living room area.
I was pleasantly surprised to find multiple articles as well as blogs from people who had done the work themselves. I decided to make this a little weekend project. I went to the hardware store and bought a grey primer and 2 cans of metallic/silver spray paint (Earth friendly). Since the stools were black, I had to lightl
y spray the grey primer over both stools. I let them dry for about an hour and began to spray the metallic color on and wow they were instantly transformed. But the project was not done yet. After letting them dry for about 24 hours I still had to reupholster the seats.
While the stools were drying, I took advantage and went to the fabric store to purchase a fun print to work with. I took it back home and got out the staple gun I had borrowed from a friend and completed that step (which is all a different article itself). Sunday night, I found myself sitting on my once all black, now silver with hot pink seats, tired as a dog but it was definitively worth the trouble. The old me would have probably dumped the stools the minute I saw they did not match, but the new me knew they had potential.
