Why an IRA is a Smart Investment Now
By energy_linguist, May 3, 2010, Personal Finance
Even in a tough economy, investing smart for retirement can actually help you save in the short term. Take an Individual Retirement Account or IRA, a perfect example of simple but smart investing that offers an important, money saving advantage in tax-deductible contributions.
Other benefits of a traditional or other forms of an IRA:
- Taxed only once you withdraw the money
- Employer contributions can also be tax deductible (small businesses)
- Generally provide variety of investing options – mutual funds, CDs, brokerage, annuities, etc.
If it’s immediate investment and immediate tax breaks that make your boat float, then considering an IRA in the short terms could be a very smart investment.
