Summer activities can be cheap!

By eliza, June 9, 2010, Family & Kids

Summer activities do not have to cost a fortune. There are so many things that are available to us all right around the corner. Below is a list of some of these either low-cost/free activities.

  • Head over to the local beach or public pool and jump in! Some public swimming pools host free swimming lessons a couple times a week so be sure to check out your local pool and see if they offer and free activities.
  • Go into that old stuffy garage and grab your bike. Google some fun trails to ride and head out.
  • Go to a museum. I know that the Children’s museum in my town, every 3rd Friday of the month, grants free admission to all during a certain time and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston has free admission every Thursdays. You can also check at local library for free admission tickets to other museums.
  • Attend a free workshop. Most universities during the summer hosts a variety of workshops and seminars with guest lecturers. Look up some of your nearby universities and check out a calendar of events to see if they are offering any.
  • Catch a movie. When I was a camp counselor, we use to take our groups to a local movie theatre which showed movies for $2 admission or something along those lines. Fandango.com and some other movie sites can be used to see if this offer is available near you.

Most important of all, have fun doing whatever is it that you will be doing this summer!
