"Green" Shopping Totes

I have noticed the use of shopping totes instead of paper or plastic bags more and more. Plastic materials are the second most found item polluting the ocean next to cigarette butts. Over $4 billion are spent annually by companies that purchase plastic bags. Using canvas totes would help keep the environment clean and create savings for tons of stores that use plastic bags. Plastic bags contain certain toxins that even after their slow decay are not biodegradable.
Most stores even offer a discount if you use a tote instead of a plastic bag, and more savings if you purchase their own store tote. Whether you buy a couple from the store you visit the most or create your own from some fairly cheap canvas, re-usable shopping bags is the best option.
