The Benefit of Buying Grocery Staples
By energy_linguist, February 7, 2011, Groceries
I’ve hit a wall with my meal planning. My better half and I have often struggled in our endless quest to source healthy, affordable ingredients to fill our pantry and firdge each week. It’s a delicate dance between what you absolutely need and what the store provides at reasonable cost.
Add the difficulty of finding foods that aren’t chemically processed to death and you have a perfect recipe for grocery confusion. So how to shop on a budget while avoiding the common grocery-store headaches?
It’s all about the staples, baby.
Once per month, stock your coffers full with the essential staples needed for most meals. We’re talking pasta and healthy grains, dry cereals, spices, oils, etc. Basically, you’re looking for the foundational items that will allow you to cook simple meals on the fly while focusing your weekly shopping trips on fresh items that won’t last past said week.
Here’s a few lists that will help you shop the essentials:

Whole Living – A Healthier Kitchen
Sourcing healthy pantry staples means you spend less time at the grocery store adding to a bulging grocery list and less of your budget wasted on boxed foods that don’t add much to overall well being.
