Save Time and Money This Tax Season

For some it’s that dreaded time of year again… that’s right, tax time. Now, some people look forward to this time, counting down the days till they receive their tax refund (nice!), but for others, paying taxes may mean quite the opposite. So, this year whether you expect to receive money or owe money, there are applications for your smartphone that can make the tax process easier, more efficient and hopefully save you some money too. Here are a few to check out:
- Snap Tax – Turbo Tax has an app and it’s called SnapTax. This app allows you to file a simple 1040Z tax return on your smartphone! Just snap a picture of your W-2, answer a few quick questions, review your information, file and you’re done! This app is available for both Androids and iPhones, which you can try for FREE or pay $14.99 if you decide to file. There are a few restrictions so click here for more information.
- IRS2Go – The IRS has an app that enables you to receive tax tips and current tax information; you can even track your refund check status. IRS2Go is applicable for most smartphones and is FREE to download for both iPhone and Android phones.
- Tax Caster – This is another helpful tax app from TurboTax. This app answers the golden question – how much am I getting back or how much am I going to pay? Answer a few easy questions and let the app calculate (it approximates) how much you should receive back. Note, this app doesn’t actually file your taxes for you; it is strictly an estimation tool. It is FREE to download for both iPhone and Android phones.
- H&R Block Tax Central – Download this FREE app and you’ll have access to tax help on the go, a tax estimator, a tax checklist, most common tax related FAQ’s and more. This FREE app can be downloaded by visiting iTunes and the Android Marketplace on your mobile device or computer.
