With the economy still recovering and now with increasing gasoline prices, I am constantly trying to find ways to save money. Since I’m not the only person this is happening to; I figure anything I can find to save money can help others. So, here are a few simple ways to save money.
- Try the library. The library is no longer just for checking out books. These days you can also rent movies and CD’s all free of charge. So save money on Netflix or iTunes and hit up the library.
- Set up online bill pay. Save money and your sanity by setting up your monthly bills to be paid automatically with the automatic bill pay feature offered through your bank. You’ll no longer have to rack your brain to make sure each bill is paid, and since your bills will be paid on time also means no more late fees. Not to mention you even save on stamps.
- Eat in. Yes, it’s fun to eat out at restaurants, but it can also be really expensive. So, to save money, try cooking at home and reserve eating out at restaurants for the weekend. Eating in, even one time less, will save you money.
- Run errands in bulk. My daughter is in school two days a week and on those days I run around like a crazy woman trying to get all my errands run. To be most efficient, I group my errands together by location and distance so I don’t waste time going back and forth. It turns out, not only does grouping errands save time, but it also saves gas too. Hello, lower gas bill!
- Embrace coupons. Yes, it takes extra time to go through and clip coupons, but it saves you money, which is worth it these days. Just by using grocery coupons on items you regularly use, you can save 25% on your weekly grocery bill. Multiply that by a month and there’s some savings.
