Websites that Will Save You Money

Google-ing “saving money” will prompt a million sites to pop up. But, other than visiting each one individually, how can you find the sites that will actually save you money? Well, lately I’ve been following The Simple Dollar blog, and the writer tackled this question himself. So, here are a few he mentioned that I thought would be most helpful.

  • SwapADVD. If you have a number of unwatched DVDs sitting in a cabinet collecting dust then SwapADVD is for you.  It’s where you can trade DVD’s by mail. Just sign up and list 10 DVD’s you own and that you are willing to trade and then receive a credit to request any DVD on their site for FREE. And whenever someone requests one of your DVD’s, you mail it out, and once they receive it, you receive another credit for another movie. You can list as many DVD’s as you’d like with no fees and best of all you get to own for as long as you’d like. Or until you get bored with it and are ready to swap it for another movie.
  • PaperBackSwap. Connected with SwapADVD, PaperBackSwap is where you can trade books via mail. It works the same as SwapADVD where you list 10 books you’d like to swap and then you receive a credit for one book. And every time you send a book you receive another credit. Another neat feature to both websites is you can transfer credits to each site. So if you aren’t a big movie buff but love reading and have some DVDs you’d like to get rid of, you can transfer those credits to PaperBackSwap.
  • Coupons.com. The biggest issue I have with coupons is that I often end up purchasing something that I didn’t necessarily need all in the name of saving money. But with Coupons.com, you can search for coupons that apply to your shopping list thus only getting coupons that you need. Just this week, it had 125 free coupons. If you find ones that work for your list, just click and print.
  • FatWallet.com Forums. This site is a great place for tech lovers to watch for extraordinary tech deals. Whether you’re looking for a laptop, memory card, whatever, if you can afford some time to keep an eye out on these forums, you can find a great deal.
