Lots of Left Over Halloween Candy?

Now that Halloween has come and gone, and the kids have finally come down from their sugar rush. The big question remains “what to do with all the candy?” If you’re like me then packing on the pounds and getting more cavities is not what I want for Christmas. There’s got to be something that can be done with all the candy other then eating it or throwing it out. Well, Parenting.com has come up with 25 creative ways to use Halloween candy, and I thought I’d highlight a few.

  • Make it a healthier snack. Fill celery stalks with cream cheese and top them with peanut M&Ms. Or you can create your own trail mix with candies like M&MS and add pretzels, nuts and/or dried fruit.
  • Make homemade flavored vodka. Drop some chocolate in a bottle of vodka and let it soak for a while to flavor your vodka.
  • Create an advent calendar for November. Put candy in little paper cups and cover with tissue. On each tissue, write numbers 1-30 and place the cups sideways on a large poster board to form a calendar. Each day, kids can punch through the tissue to get their treat for the day.
  • Use it for your child’s birthday party. You can stuff remaining Halloween candy into a pinata instead of spending money on more candy.
  • Bring it to the office. In a matter of seconds that Halloween candy will be gone!
