Best Inexpensive Gifts for Him

Gifts of value that bring enjoyment to a man in your life needn’t be expensive. Although it can be daunting to find suitable gifts, with careful thought you can procure items that will either be useful or bring pleasure to their recipients. Before you start looking, take so
me time to think about the interests, tastes and habits of each man on your list. Considering such things will likely ignite a spark of creativity, leading you to a gift that will deviate from the standard tie or a bottle of cologne that may stay unused on the shelf.

For example, if the man loves to putter in the kitchen, he would appreciate a cool kitchen tool or unique cookbook. If he is an avid golfer, he might like a subscription to a golf magazine or perhaps some trick golf balls. Coffee aficionados would revel in a gift of gourmet coffee or a beverage warmer.

I think you get the picture now. Below are some ideas, many of which are scalable, such as CDs or packages of gourmet coffee. By scalable I mean that if you need a gift under $7 for a child’s teacher you could purchase only one package of coffee, while if you need a gift for your husband, you could purchase a collection of them.

  • Magazine subscriptions. This is a great way to tailor your gift to your recipient’s interests. Regardless of what his interests are, there is a magazine on the subject. You could give Forbes to the businessman, Time to the news hound or Sports Illustrated to the sports enthusiast.
  • Gourmet food baskets. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like to eat. And in these hard economic times, people rarely indulge in such things for themselves. Imagine your man’s pleasure when you surprise him with a tower of decadent chocolates or a collection of savory cheeses.
  • Gourmet coffee or tea. I put this in a separate category because it is so very popular. How many men do you know who stop at place like Starbucks on their way to work? Your man will enjoy leisurely Saturday mornings at home, sipping cups of these wonderful brews.
  • CDs or DVDs. Once again, here is a category that can be tailored to your man’s tastes or needs. You could give an instructional tutorial to a golfer or a music CD to a jazz fiend. Another possibility is a gift of a classic movie that he can enjoy multiple times.
  • Personalized photo gifts. Take a treasured photo and have it put on a mug or other item. The personal approach is always appreciated and such gifts can be quite cherished.
  • Fine soaps or toiletries. Some women think that men are not interested in such things, but judging from my experience, this may be a misconception. While it may be difficult to select cologne that suits the taste of your man, a fine soup in a manly scent such as sandalwood is sure to please.
  • Practical gifts. If you can think of a problem your man has and find an item that provides a solution, you have a gift that is a winner. An example of this is a fogless shaving mirror.
  • Health and fitness gifts. This category offers different options, ranging from small pieces of exercise equipment to items for the home. A nice pick would be a massaging shower head that invigorates and eases tension.
  •  Slippers. Everyone looks forward to coming home at the end of a hard day and putting on soft comfortable slippers. This pair is lined with shearling, so they will be quite warm and cozy on cold winter evenings.
  • Gift cards. Don’t you love it when you get a gift card? Such gifts will allow the man on your list to purchase something he wants or needs that even those nearest and dearest to him don’t know about. Another option would be a gift card to his favorite restaurant.
