Save Money and Time by Grocery Shopping Less

For me, grocery shopping is a chore. Between battling grocery carts through the produce area and waiting in the check out line, I would rather be almost anywhere else. So when I saw this article on how to prolong trips to the grocery store, I got excited. If you feel the same way, or just want to save money at the grocery store by going less often, then here are some ways to do just that.
- Make double batches of most meals. By doing this you can eat the first batch and freeze the second one for later. You can even portion these out so you can easily have a meal ready when you just don’t feel like cooking.
- Utilize your pantry. Instead of basing meals on recipes, try basing them on what is in your pantry. Since everything has a shelf-life, focus on what you have before you buy more.
- Substitute water for milk. At night between my daughter and I, we go through a lot of milk. Although it is important, the article suggests drinking water for dinner. The author does note that shouldn’t apply to small children as it is necessary per their doctor but for it is something to try for adults.
