Just as you start paying off credit cards accumulated during the December holiday rush, it’s time for Valentine’s Day, another holiday that encourages people to spend freely instead of saving money. So this February, use these tips and try to save some money this month.
- Tip #1. Re-think Valentine’s Day gifts. If you are the artsy type, try making your valentine a gift this year. It will save money and probably reflects what’s in your heart better than a box of chocolates ever could. If you’re like me and not as creative as others, you can save money by skipping the giving of gifts altogether and do something nice like cooking dinner for your significant other or washing their car.
- Tip #2. Postpone Valentine’s Day dinner. According to About.com, grocery stores load up on meat and seafood in February, just in time for that special Valentine’s Day dinner. Thus, if you postpone your fancy dinner at home until after February 15th, you can take advantage of the grocery stores marking down the good cuts of meat that didn’t sell. Hello lobster!
With a little planning and thought you can make this Valentine’s Day special without having to break the bank!
